FACTORY TALKS presents:
JEFFERY SCOTT FOWLER
Wednesday, March 18, 2014 — 6-8 pm
From CBC editor, to film producer, to director, to sculptor.
Jeff will talk about his experiences in the many departments he works in. From the twisted mind of your friendly neighbourhood EVIL GENIUS!!!!
Since childhood, Jeff has had the need to form his creative imagination into physical reality. At first it was doodles on every scrap of paper within reach or creating intricate plot lines for his transformer and Voltron collections. Years later he got his hands on a video8 camcorder and all bets were off. From making stop-motion animations with his action figures, to creating mock talk shows with friends, Jeff has always had a project in his head on the go. Since graduated from film school in 1999, Jeff has worked in almost every facet of film and television production. He possesses a thorough understanding of the mechanics of filmmaking and for over the past decade has worked as a professional video editor while writing, producing and directing his own award-winning short film projects.
Along with his work in film and TV, Jeff’s long time love affair with comic book culture has recently spawned a passion for designing and sculpting wearable superhero masks. From Batman to Wolverine to The Flash, his work has not only been a success at Fanexpo Toronto and within the online community, it has also influenced the work of established comic illustrators. Most notable would be Lee Bermejo, who has for the past several years has used one of Jeff’s Batman cowls as a reference for his drawings of The Dark Knight for DC comics. Fuelled by a simple love of movies and comic books, along with the need to tell entertaining and compelling stories, Jeff continues to bring his grand ideas to cinematic and sculpted life. Most recently, his films ODDS and SHELTER have been accepted into the Buffalo Niagara Film Festival. Jeff resides in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada with his wife, Diana and their dog, Keaton.
