Call for Submissions: 19th Annual Members Screening

Our Annual Members’ Screening is back! For the past 19 years Factory Media Centre has hosted an annual screening of works by our membership following our Annual General Meeting. This is a great opportunity to share your work with fellow members and connect with the FMC community!

Deadline: January 10th, 2025 at 11:59 PM

Screening Date: After the Annual General Meeting, Saturday January 25th

After the screening, submitted works will be on display on the screens at Farside Bar for the month of February! Please be aware that all works on display at Farside will play without audio.


Eligibility

  • Must be a current member of Factory Media Centre to submit. We always welcome new members! If you wish to join or renew your membership, click here to do so online, or contact Alex at info@factorymediacentre.ca

Details

  • Each member may submit one work. Members may submit independently or as an artist team, collective, or group.
    • In the case that members are submitting as a team, group, or collective: members may also additionally submit one independently made work as well
  • Works may not exceed 10 minutes in length – this includes credits (whether video or audio). Members are welcome to submit excerpts of longer works
  • We are accept submissions of various types of time based work such as: video, film, audio, experimental new media, and documented performance works
  • Please only submit work that is ready to be shown
  • Submissions should be independent projects wherein you retain complete creative and artistic control of the project. Do not submit projects you do not have the right to exhibit. Members may submit collaboratively made works, however they must state that they have the right to present the work
  • Submitted works cannot include copyrighted audio that plays for longer than 10 seconds in the total duration of the work
  • Our 19th Annual Members Screening will occur following our Annual General Meeting, Saturday January 25th. Our AGM begins at 1:00pm EST.
  • After the screening, submitted works will be on display on the screens at Farside Bar for the month of February! Please be aware that all works on display at Farside will play without audio.

Submission Requirements

  • Artist Bio (50 – 100 words maximum)
  • Brief description / artist statement of the project (100 words maximum)
  • Artwork info: Title, Duration, Year of Completion, Medium (audio/video), Your role(s) in the project
  • JPG/JPEG or PNG still of work
  • File Submission of work:
    • Video files cannot exceed 500mB in size. Audio files cannot exceed 500mb in size.
    • Video files must be either: .MP4, .MOV. Audio files must be either: .MP3 or .WAV.
    • If your submission file exceeds 500mB in size and you are unable to compress the file without experiencing quality loss, please reach out to us at programming@factorymediacentre.ca and we can arrange alternative accommodations for your submission!
